PCPC @ 3: Sustaining Valuable Partnerships

A community with a give and take culture is what PCPC aims to establish with its partnerships, especially with educational institutions in the host community.

PCPC is known to be one of the benefactors of schools located in Concepcion, Iloilo–with the Build-and-Brighten-a-School Program in which the company donates school materials and renovates/ constructs buildings, and sponsors school events and its students.

“We are still looking for more ways to go beyond than just giving resources to schools, which we consider partners. We also want to support processes which will lead to the overall quality education for students,” Ms. Ma. Cristina D. Cabalhin, Vice President for Corporate Affairs Head, said.

Ms. Cabalhin added that PCPC believes that improving the education system will have a long-term outcome which is to produce well-informed and knowledgeable citizens. They will serve as instruments who will improve the social and economic condition of the communities in Concepcion, Iloilo.

In return, the schools are one of PCPC’s top volunteers in its programs especially CSR projects. In fact, the Northern Iloilo Polytechnic State College is a partner in the company’s Green PARC Mangrove Planting Program, as they help maintain and monitor planted seedlings. Just recently, Nipa Elementary School is one of the main volunteers in the Coastal Clean-Up activities of PCPC.

Meanwhile, high school students in Concepcion participate in the yearly mural competition conducted every anniversary celebration of the power plant.

Partnership is manifested in this kind of activity as it gives both parties’ opportunities–to give life to the panels in front of the power plant, and showcase the vast talents of Concepcionanons.

Eventually, the painted walls became an attraction to tourists and residents alike.
